Moto2 had a lot to live up to after the extraordinary action Moto3 provided and it too provided great entertainment from the Assen TT circuit.
Marquez, after learning he will not be reprimanded for the Catalunya incident by the FIM this week, found himself able to relax in his pursuit of the championship after both Tom Luthi and Pol Espargaro crashed out early on. One job remained – to reel in Andrea Iannone who had used the drama to his advantage to stretch out a lead on his Speed Master machine. Marquez caught and passed Iannone fairly and cleanly with a flourish of his talent and none of the controversial moves of the last few races.
Scott Redding kept the strong British performances coming with a back to back podium result in third place for the Marc VDS team.
