The Moto3 class rarely disappoints but at the’ cathedral of racing’ – Assen- it really provided something spectacular. The fight to the line had drama all the way with Kent, Cortese and Vinales all looking to be in with a shout at victory, with Rossi and Salom ready to pounce and capitalise on any errors just behind.
The frantic nature of the race then spilled over after the flag when a video replay was needed to split the positions after the victorious Vinales, and even then Salom was removed from parc ferme to make way for Danny Kent and his first ever Moto3 podium, so the Red Bull KTM updates look to be paying off.
Cortese’s agressive racing style has also been called into question as Marquez is often involved with race direction over similar moves, it is also possible to reason that the move were Cortese hit Kent was as agressive as Bautista was when he carved down Lorenzo in MotoGP and Bautista was penalised while Cortese has not yet been reprimanded this season.
