MotoGP Hector Barbera highside crash, fractured vertebrae – amazing helmet damage!

So it may be Toni Elias back in at Pramac Ducati as Hector Barbera’s highside crash in Friday practice in Indianapolis left him with fractured vertebrae, a break he has experienced already in his career, to add to his recovering left tibia and fibula leg breaks which he attempted to ride with despite less than a month’s healing time (silly season performance pressure, anyone?).

The Spaniard’s return was disastrous, however US Speed TV motorsport presenter Greg White was allowed to visit Barbera in hospital and posted this picture, showing how much worse his injuries may have been if Barbera’s helmet hadn’t fufilled it’s safety role:

Major damage is visible at the top of the helmet, yet Barbera has already left hospital in a chest brace to help his recovery. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Barbera: “I love my bike, I love my sport. I can’t wait to ride her again. Racing is what keeps me alive and what I live for. PASSION”
