Moto2 rider Gino Rea, who performed well enough to podium in the wet in 2012 but found himself without a ride after his deal fell through with ESGP, has to wait until the MotoGP circus arrives at Le Mans before he can put in a wild-card performance.
The Londoner originally planned to start his season at the third race and first non-flyaway -round 3 at Jerez but all the wild-card entries for that race were given to Spanish riders so Rea now starts his campaign once race later when the world championship hits France.
Rea revealed the delay himself on his new self- built website adding:
“Despite this minor setback, the FTR Moto2 bike will be built within the next two weeks and Gino will begin testing in preparation for Le Mans Round 4 of the Moto2 World Championship”.
2013 will see Gino ride for his own ‘Gino Rea Race Team’ nicknamed ‘GRR8T,’ with bike support from FTR and some funding support from his online supporters page http://www.GinoReaClub.com. Gino will head the only British built FTR chassis in the Moto2 class and is calling out for UK sponsors to support his all British effort.
