The future of MotoGP in Britain… (it’s not necessarily bright)

Hannah Smith’s ‘Get Your Knee Down’ blog has all you need on the Circuit of Wales/Dorna agreement, so I’m reblogging it as it says everything I would have, why not follow her for more great opinions on the MotoGP news?

GET YOUR KNEE DOWN.

As of 2015 the British GP will be held at the Circuit of Wales, well except it won’t be. The Circuit of Wales hasn’t been built yet. In fact, they haven’t so much as touched shovel to dirt.

The reason they haven’t started building yet is simple, they’re not allowed to. The site is subject to common land rights. But that’s not a problem is it?

Now don’t get me wrong, the proposed site is in a gorgeous part of Wales, right on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. I’ve spent time there, it’s beautiful. But just because somewhere is beautiful doesn’t mean it’s the right spot for a race track.

The only way to get to the site is along the “Heads of the Valleys Road”, which is a single carriageway and particularly popular with farmers & their tractors. If you’ve been to Brands Hatch you’ll know that traffic…
